Easy Way To Set Up Your DNS
To connect your domain, you must first sign into your hosting account where you bought your domain name, then follow these guidelines of how to set up your domain, the guide below is for Host Papa, but most companies are very similar.
- 1. Login into your Ost Papa account
- 2. Select Manage Domains at the top
- 3. Tick the domain name you want to change, this will produce other functions
- 4. From the left menu click Name Servers ie as above
- 5. Type in your new DNS servers settings
- 6. Click Save Name Servers
In your settings (where you bought your domain name) you will notice there are primary and secondary DNS name servers.
The DNS settings will look something like this:
- Primary: ns1.hostname.com
- Secondary: ns2.hostname.com
When the DNS is updated to point to a host, your files will automatically be seen on the World Wide Web. Once servers have been changed, it can take anywhere from 30 minutes to up to 24 hours for changes to take effect. You are set to go, but please be patient with your transfer.
